i need to replace the rear rotors on my '89 740gl. i am confused on the new thickness and smallest thickness allowed. the charts in the faq section do not show my measurement. on my rotor now it is 10.16 mm. it was scarred badly from a worn pad. can you help me clear this up?

My experience also. I took mine to be turned, and the guys at the parts store told me that their books did not show a min. thickness (I looked myself). $26.00 each new. Junkyard was $10.00, then $12.00 to skim cut. New is the way to go. Dave

I don't worry about thickness on these- they're cheap, replace them.
They do not have enough margin to turn them on a brake lathe if they are damaged. Simply bolt on a new part and it will be just fine. FCP Groton sells these for $20-something apiece for quality brands.

hopefully you do not also find a stuck caliper.
