Blower Motor: Mission Accomplished 200 1989

I can't believe what a PITA this job is.

I can't believe I got it done.

Thanks fellow Bricksters.

I swear; there should be a grille badge for this similar to the "high mileage" award (maybe we should make one!). I tried once (about 8 yrs ago), got about 1/3 the way in and said "$#@%it! abandon ship! abandon ship!" I lived with the "no blower motor" situation for the rest of the time i owned that car. If it fries on either of the two bricks I still have though, I will be forced to try again. At least i'll have some AWESOME tips to go with this time.

I totally agree. It is a very tough job but well worth the work and the money saved. A badge would be pretty cool. As a result of this repair (and the control arm bushings) I have lost all thoughts about replacing this car.

Congratulations. I haven't done that one yet, but I've heard about it.

I got an 89 240 that I got cheap at an aution because some one stopped in the middle of a blower motor job. Any suggestion would be greatly apreciated.

You are lucky. A good deal on a 240 is gold. I used this site as my guide: http://users.erols.com/benstein/ which helped very much. Definitely take out both front seats and do the job with plenty of light. Also, take the opportunity to replace any burned out light bulbs in the dash and/or center console.

Removing the instrument panel, the stereo, the glove box and the center console certainly make the car look like it is never going to go back together, but it goes back together very quickly.

Get a magnet to retrieve dropped parts as you will be reaching into some tight places.

It is a rewarding job. Good luck.
