Electric wimdow switches 200

My '85 240 wagon has in the past few months devolped a problem with the drivers side push button window. It will work However, intermitttnley. The same drivers side assembly takes forever to raise the passenger side window, sometimes not working at all.
Before I disassemble the door panel are there any Suggestions?

like BC's post about taking them apart and cleaning, in some cases, it helps if you stretch the spring to be a little longer.

The switches themselves get a little dirty, making it necessary to poke and try several times in order to find a "good" spot.

A switch can be removed and opened up and cleaned. Done carefully, you can get an almost-new switch. Part of "carefully" is not losing the little steel balls inside tht do the work. For reassembly, use a little dielectric grease to keep the balls in position.

You might want to just swap the driver's window switch with the one in the left rear door, the least used one. See how that does.

Slow moving is often dried-up lubricant. Remove the trim panel and use a spray lithium on everything in sight. All the window moving parts, all the door latching parts, and especially upwards onto the outside handle connections.

Use a silicone spray lube on the window track.

Oh, and tighten the nuts that hold the window motor onto the steel door panel.

Good Luck,

Ditto. Slow moving can also be a resistive film/layer of dirt in the switch which limits the available current to the motor. That was the case on my 760. Worked great after stripping the switch and cleaning with contact cleaner. Just make sure you've got a contact cleaner that does not attack plastic, or you will not get the switch to move at all! Been there, done that. Now I just use the expensive contact cleaners.
