Service Light ? 89 740 Turbo 700 1989

For the past few weeks, the service light will light up for the first few minutes unitl the car warms up. Does this clue indiacte any thing obvious I could check before having to take it in to a mechanic? The water & oil are topped off.

Thanks...

Reset the 5,000 mile service indicator by pressing the button behind the speedometer.

Can the service slight on a 940 turbo be reset the same way? Where is this button located?

Hi Eric, for your 940 when you look at the instrument cluster, there are 2 buttons below the speedo.the one on the right reset the trip meter and the one on the left is the button to reset the service light.pull the small rubber out carefully and use a pen to push the button and hold it for a couple of seconds and release.when you are done put back the rubber plug(dont push the rubber in too much ) because if you do you will drop it inside the instrument cluster, and in order to get the rubber out again, you have to pull the cluster out and dismantel it .hope this helps and good luck.charles.
