90 760t Cuts off intermittently .. wtf is it? 700

Hi,
I've got a 90' 760Turbo. The other day it decided to totally cut off while driving. Heres what it did. About 10min before it cut off, My stereo kept turning off/on by itself (So i started thinking ignition of some sort) but car kept running and didn't miss. Came to a stop sign, It totaly cut off. It would turn over but just not start. I checked the RPM sensor and it looks fine, And I checked the Ignition Amplifier, and looked fine. IT wasn't hot at all. I Waited 5 min.. and it started up no problem..

Then soon after the car would basicly feel as if it was missing as no spark, I'd here the relay go crazy behing the radio (as on the 760s) and the ABS light kept blinking on and off with the relay. No problems rest of day.

Start it the next day, no problem. 2 min later the radio cuts off, so I stop the car, check the amplifier and rpm sensor wires.. and no problem since this morning..

So what is it? Wiring harness.. the amplifier is just bad?

thanks! tom

If I had to guess what the problem is I would say the fuel injection relay needs to be resoldered, and or the rpm sensor needs to be replaced. You might also need a new ignition switch if it is causing a lack of power to the radio and abs system. The switch on my 760 went bad and would cause the airbag light to come on and no power to the radio and climate control if I remember correctly. The switch is inexpensive from Borton Volvo and FCP.com, and easy to install. Check the FAQ's for more engine stalling troubleshooting tips.
