    Volvos in So Cal 200

There are a boatload of 240s available in Southern California. If you're going to be in LA check out The Recycler. They list 45 240s for sale within 250 miles of my zip code in Santa Barbara, ranging from $450 to $10,995.

There is a lot on Fairfax in West Hollywood (sorry, the name escapes me now but I believe they are on the corner of DeLongpre and Fairfax), that only sells Volvos. They always have a good selection of late 240s.

Drive around the streets of Santa Monica, you'll see more Volvos than just about anywhere else on the planet. You might find a few with "for sale" signs.

any good places to buy a 240 in sw? 200

Couple of suggestions. When I needed parts (used) for my daughters 1988 244GL with 235k miles I would go to Downtown Imports in Albuquerque (specialize in Volvo parts). Mostly used parts (large selection) but they did have a "For Sale" board which did have many Volvos (haven't been there for a while because I replaced the 244 with a 960 which had 115k miles on it). Info is Downtown Imports - 601 Haines NW (505) 247-2227. Another place which is a Volvo Service garage is Independent Volvo Service - 1401 3rd Street NW - (505) 247-9771 (web site is www.ivs.repair.bz). This is a garage used by many Volvo owners and is very reputable (used by VolvoSource here in Albuquerque). Volvo Source is a used Volvo dealer that specializes in top quality, late model used Volvos. (Web site is www.volvosource.com. Just checked the web site and they have one or two 'older' Volvos.

    Betst of luck

    Ted in Albuquerque

any good places to buy a 240 in sw? 200 1985

Between work, home & the grocery store I know of two wagons for sale. One is a "newer" model (90-93??) for sale at the volkswagon junk yard on south Broadway (Albuquerque). Haven't stopped by to see what year or how much they are wanting. I have bought a few used items for my '85 245 from there and while they seem to be good folks, I kind of think their price might be on the high side.

The other has been sitting near the Valencia Y across from Smiths in Los Lunas. It is an '85 245 with automatic transmission. The owner's note say it only has 85k - which is hard to believe that here in the southwest someone only drove 4 or 5000 miles each year! It does look in good shape though. I am going by there tomorrow and will try to remember to write down the owner's phone number.

There's a repair shop somewhere in the downtown Alb. area that has listed Volvos for sale in the Journal. Haven't seen any listings lately, but I did bookmark their site & will try to see if I can find it.

(I bought mine from a guy on south Broadway who had spruced it up for someone else who turned around and went with something else - I've had it for almost a year now and has proved to be quite reliable.)
