Dear rdi,
Good a.m. and may this find you well. This likely is the result of an power supply problem. Have you examined the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) codes? You can read them at the code readers, the small black plastic boxes mounted on the front side of the driver's side (USA/Canada models) strut tower. See the FAQs, under FEATURES, above, for instructions on how to obtain and interpret these codes.
Here are some possibilities:
(a) Radio interference suppression relay (fuel injection relay), which lives in the engine bay, passenger side (US/Canada models), forward of the ABS hydraulic unit, tucked tightly against the inner fender wall. It is Dark Brown, about 1" (25mm) square and about 2" (50mm) long. It controls the flow of electricity to the injectors. If this relay is failing, it could momentarily interrupt the power flow.
(b) Spark plug wire[s] / distributor. When was the last time these were changed? If the wires have deteriorated, movement of the engine could momentarily interrupt the power flow.
(c) an injector could be weak/failing. Have the injectors ever been serviced (cleaned/flushed, either in place or removed)?
(d) much less likely, the engine control module (mounted in the passenger cabin, below the glove box, forward of the front passenger door, behind a "kick panel", on the right (door) side of the passenger footwell) could have failed or have started to deteriorate.
Post back with the OBD Code readings. One of those may identify the specific faults.
Yours faithfully,
spook
