The ignition power stage is actually the transistor (an electronic switch, if you will) that directly fires the coil. On cars fitted with this, it's located in the LF fender, screwed to the vertical fender sidewall. It's roughly hexagonal with an electrical connector clipped to it. When it fails, your car immediately will stop running, and have no spark or possibly a very weak spark.
The radio suppression relay is fitted to 740T and 760T models, late (91-up?) 740 and 940 non turbos. It's supposed to help keep ignition noise out of the radio as far as I understand its function. It's in the fuse box on 740T models, under the dash if I'm not mistaken on 760T (correct me if wrong folks) and under the hood on later 740T/940. If I'm not mistaken on cars where it's under the hood, there's an identical relay next to it, for the electric fan. The connectors can be swapped to test one or the other.
Make sure to read the 700/900FAQ for lots more info.
