Replacement injectors 960 900

Is anyone familiar with remanufactured injectors? I want to replace all 6 on my car (273,000 miles on the injectors) and the cost of new ones are steep. Prices range from 110.00 to 150.00 each. I found a place in CA that renews them and alleges to blueprint to original specs. They want 54.00 a piece with my old ones as a core.

The car has been running rich since the rebuild, just barely passing emissions testing, the only common thing is the injectors, the original engine ran rich too. Thinking at that time the cylinder/ring wear was the culprit. Fuel pressure is normal, regulator is new, there are no vacuum leaks. One thing for sure is the sound of the clicking is extremely loud on those babies, really loud, occasionally when starting it appears flooded, when warm, so I imagine one is leaking down a little. There was a recent post about an engine that hydro locked and broke apart from a bad injector so now I am motivated to doing something before it is too late.

I am wondering if buying the remans is the way to go, comes with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.

While I buy a national brand of fuel, use a bottle of injector cleaner once a year, I think these things have to wear out and eventually need replacing.

Any and all thoughts welcome, thanks for your time.

If it is running rich, I would think either the ECU or one of the sensors is out of calibration. The O2 sensor should be holding the mixture at the correct value if it is running in closed loop mode.

How is your temperature sensor? Is your thremostat keeping the engine temperature up to the proper value of 90 degrees C

BTW, I just replaced the head gasket on my car for a coolant leak and the injectors, manifolds, and valves were all "spotless". I've been using Mobil 1 oil and Mobil gasoline.

Have you ever replaced the O2 sensors? Thats where the ECU gets the info on the mixture. If the fuel injectors aren't leaking it's where I would look.

Oh yeah, the current one is giving me trouble and has only been on about 30K miles. Took a look at it over the weekend and was choked with carbon. Plan on changing that too when the injectors are renewed. Have a new thermostat and new sender at the back of the head.

I have worked with Lender Technical Services on injector problems. They refurbished my injectors checked them out with a flow test before sending them back, cost 24.00 each, purred like a kitten when I got them back in. If your sure that the injectors you have are going bad they may have a set that will work for you. Check their web site.
Good Luck

We have a place near by that I used a few years ago, spent about the same as you did, with no difference in performance. If I recall correctly, the place tests them, cleans them and retests. Gives a chart showing performance before, after and spray pattern.

How long can one expect a fuel injector to last? Do they wear internally? Are the internal parts replaceable. I know very little about them.
Just hoping someone could educate me. Looking at the style of injectors on mine, doesn't appear to be serviceable.

I've used reman injectors on two cars with excellent results. Can't remember the name of the company, but they were out of California, as well. 12 month/12k warranty, and cheap compared to new. Worked in my case. The cars were a Mitsubishi and a Toyota Camry (both with less than 120,000 miles when the injectors went south)

Dan, as far as the injectors being serviceable the only thing I know is enough to be dangerous. The injectors do have a built in filter at the top that the people that I dealt with replace ,along with the ASNU machine cleaning. This machine back flushes the injector while pulsing the injector and it's ultrasonically cleansed at the same time. Along with this the new machines also test the electronics in the injectors for any faults to preclude any probles there. As far as the mechnical parts of the injector being serviceable, thats outside of what I know concerning Lender Thec. May want to check the ASNU website for more info about what their machines can and cannot do. Oh yes forgot to mention they also send the parts back with new seals installed.
Good Luck
