'92 940 Electrical Issues 900

I have a '92 940. Everytime the drivers door opens, the fuse for the radio/clock blows. Plus an obnoxious dinging noise starts. So, not only do I not have music, I am forced to listen to ding, ding, ding non-stop. If I turn the instrument panel brightness intensity lever all the way down, it seems to mute the dinging. Can anyone help?

Why must the Volvo gods torment me like this?

You have whats called a "short". That means that electricty is bypassing the normal circuit and grounding causing the fuse to blow. The most likely spot in this case is where the wiring harness makes an elbow shape where it can move when you open and close the door. The ding ding ding (Swedish National Anthem) is caused because when the fuse blows the chime relay is deprived of all of its correct electrical flow.
