Does anyone have or can get a digital photo of the connector for the power antenna?

The shop cut mine out and I want some evidence that Volvo's are pre wired for the power antenna.

Did it originally have a Power Antenna? Do you have an up/down switch or momentary contact switch or a relay that causes the antenna to go up and down when the radio is turned on or off?

wire (green-grey?) -it is the relay control line coming from the radio through the dash switch. The other wire (green-red?) is unswitched battery power. The antenna relay at the motor is what reverses direction when power on the control line is removed and shuts off when it reaches end of travel

The connector in the radio is a AMP #480673


Pin 1 Const. Voltage +12 (Fuse 8) For clock and memory

Pin 2 +12 v switched (Fuse 1) works off the ignition switch

Pin 3 Power antenna My 200 does not have a power antenna

Pin 4 Left Speaker +

Pin 5 Right Speaker +

Pin 6 Right Speaker –

Wires under the dashboard:


Green wire……………Constant on (+12V)

Yellow/blue………….. +12 v switched

Red…………………... Antenna

White (Gray)………… Left Speaker +

Black…………………..Ground


On the power antennas I have had, the limit switch is integral in the antenna.

The non-coax connections are:

#1 - Ground, #2 - always hot, #3 - hot with radio on. That last one is from the red wire on the 9-place radio connector.

When #2 only is hot, the antenna retracts. You will need to test to learn which wire.

When #2 and #3 wires are hot, the antenna extends.

Color codes you have are newer than my Volvo wiring diagram books.

There are actually two different plugs in Volvos that I am aware of, both control power antennas.

When I bought my '90, it had a replacement power antenna in it that was Volvo lable, but it didn't match the plug in my car, so it was not plugged in. I did a little voltmeter investigation and trial and error, and jumpered across the plugs to get the power antenna to work.
