Source for rear passener door? 200

I just purchased a 1993 245 with 99K. The car is in great shape, but there is one really annoying dent in the rear passenger door. It is a fairly large and "soft" dent that covers much of the door below the upper molding, and a small piece of the rocker panel. The paint is not broken.

Question: How easy is it for a body shop to take care of this? Would anyone advise that I take off the inner pannel and try banging it out myself?

As an alternative, should I just go get another door? The problem would be finding one with the same stuff (silver outside, black inside, electric windows). Otherwise I'd just have to go to a body shop anyway to have it painted. Anyone have a suggestion for a source?

Thanks,

Michael

Here is a link to junk yards. A yard near you called Brandywine has one in silver for $150. Good luck

If your near the Western Pennsylvania area my indy mechanic has at least 35 doors he has pulled off of cars. You could pop up and pick one out for your car.
Let me know and I'll get you his number.

A buddy of mine fixed a dent like your describing with a tool he had. It was a big suction cup (like the ones you buy to stick something on your window) he just wet it a little and pushed it on then pulled back on it and most of the dent popped out! Sure saved a lot of labor to remove the door panel!

    Best of luck...

I would try to pull (push) it out yourself. What do you have to loose? As long as you don't cause anymore damage.

If it just needs pulled out and no paint I would bet it would be fairly cheap to have done.

    Good luck.

Right, I suppose I should have said that I live in the Washington, DC area, and was looking for a good source (junkyard) for Volvos in this area. Thanks.

I like the pick and pull in Highland, Maryland run by Ellis Wise. A door will set you back $50. (you remove) another yard, off of Rt. 1 in jessup maryland is Crazy Rays. Same price, I think. Good luck.

Push the dent out yourself and see if you can live with it. If not, just have it repaired at a good body shop. You will almost never find a replacement door that is better, or fits your car better. Remember there was a certain amount of handwork involved in that coachwork. Each one is just a little different.
As for volvo yards in your area there is no better than Brian Leppin:
