HELP! - Car Died and Won't Start 700 1989

Greetings,

My '89 765T (B230FT)stopped running last night, just as my wife was entering the garage. Just prior to stalling, the CD player lights went out and the SRS dash light went on. The car did make it into the garage before stalling.

I tried to start it and the car will crank very slowly and will not start. My check list for today is: battery and cables, alternator belt, alternator brushes, coil, possibly the fuel filter and pump.

Any other possibilities from those that have experienced this would be much appreciated...

Stormy - 765T (252,000 miles) + 240DL (473,000 miles)

Altenator needs new brushes or the belt is loose. Sounds like your battery wasn't getting enough juice. Of course, if the battery is old, it may have a bad cell.

      Thank you,Gents

After removing the alternator brushes(they are long enough) and checking the alternator belt - also OK, I lookied at the various grounds and they also check out.

Just for fun, I removed the battery from my 240DL and put in the battery from the 765T - dead as can be. The battery is only two months old - took to Auto Zone and they are charging it now. We'll test it to see if it will hold a charge - if not the warranty replaces it.

This reminds us all to start with the most obvious and eliminate the easiest first. I appreciate the assistance..........

      Stormie

Funky lights makes me think a ground might be bad. Wouldn't hurt to check and clean all the engine grounds.
