Rebuilding Volvo anti-spin differential 200

I have a Volvo anti-spin differential that I would like to remove from the axle housing, rebuild and install in a different housing. The spider gears have some nicks so I'm thinking clutches, springs and spider gears. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and could offer advice. I heard its a Dana power-lok so could I just get parts for that unit? Where should I get the parts? Is there any shimming required when doing this? I'm mostly likely going to get the green manual first.
thanks

I found it was cheaper to have a Detroit TrueTrac installed than to rebuild the Volvo unit.

I have a TrueTrac that I want to have installed in my '81 240 GL. It has the 1031 rear end instead of the standard 1030 like my '80 had, but apparently that doesn't make that much of a difference from what I hear. Right now the car just has an open carrier.

How many hours labour were you charged when you had your TrueTrac installed ? I called a couple shops around here and they're saying it'll be about 6-8 hours worth of labour to install the Truetrac and replace the shaft bearings, etc. Does that sound about right to you ?

What parts would you recommend I have them replace while the axles are out ? Are there any that are Volvo specific in the 1031 vs the standard 1030 ?

Thanks,

Roj

The charge to install was $100, probably about 1.5 hours of labor with the rear end out of the car.

Yes I've done this repair many times prior. My advise to you is to hire the job
done! There are very expensive special tools required and precise preload and backlash measurements to factor . There's also an upgrade on the spider gear carrier that was prone to cracks.

Do you know if a 1991 axle would have the upgraded spider gear carrier? I was't thinking about a full rebuild but just moving the differential unit into a different axle housing so I'm not sure how much shimming would be needed. I read a bunch of jeep forumns and they seemed to say that replacing clutches was a straight forward routine repair. I guess I need to read some manuals and see if its worth it.
