240 Cener Armrest 200

I am looking for a center armrest(w/cupholder?) for my 1990 240 DH which is in excellent condition. I've looked on ebay and put a bid on one that seemed OK albiet rather thin. Can amybody point me in the direction to finding a parts house that sells OEM for this item. I just can;t seem to find one - they all sell major parts and no items such as this. I also need the molding on the drivers side door but can;t find that either. I appreciate any help.

You can try giving Swedish Engineering a call. That's where I got mine. No cup holders though...that version is very rare.

Be informed about the aftermarket versions...Some of these work differently. For example, the one I have can flip up when not being used. Some of the aftermarket versions just clip to the center console and don't flip. However, you can get cup holders.

The part number is 3529985-8 from the dealer. It comes up as No Longer Available and I think used to sell between $88-125. From my understanding, Volvo made ones that matched the fabric and color schemes in the car. Then, they changed to an all black armrest to match all interiors.

I found a beige fabric one with cupholders in a 1990 240 at a used car lot. I offered the salesman $50 for it, and he accepted it.

Husco is an aftermarket parts supplier that makes center armrests for 240s. Check out www.husco.com. I think they sell for about $90 online.

The center armrest was a pretty rare option for the 240's, and I was surprised when the '92 I bought a few years ago had one. I doubt there is an aftermarket supplier for these - just keep looking on eBay and in the BB classifieds. Mine unfortunately broke - one of the screws which holds the armrest to the hinge pulled out of the vinyl/plastic. Just stepped on one too many times by my (late) 85-pound Lab.

If you want, I can send you a picture or two of the damaged area so you can assess whether you could repair it to make it serviceable - it might be a JB Weld project.

Superglue.

If you've got the vinyl one with slide out cupholders front and back and a big metal brace that holds it up, that is. My Springer Spainiel sprung on mine one too many times. I fixed it in 10 minutes with superglue.

Thanks, Bob - I'll give it a try. My old boy is hunting pheasants in doggie paradise now, so the armrest should survive!
