Hi Folks,

I'm normally on the 240 board, but wanted to ask you opinions about a newspaper add I saw yesterday afternoon. The add read something like "1990 Volvo 780 Bertone. 4 cylinder turbo. $2000". Last summer I saw a 780 Bertone on the road and loved it. Do you think this would be worth checking out? For a fully functional car with no major problems would $2000 be a fair price?

How many miles? New turbo? Interior? etc.

I saw an '89 780 with 165k miles last spring, near flawless interior, new turbo but piston slap and a crushed/dented rear 1/4 panel. The guy would easily get $3500 for it.

Look it over very carefully. Due to its limited numbers, that's one car that a few cosmetic deficiencies could be far more expensive to fix than a few mechanical deficiencies.

THESE ARE VERY NICE CARS TO DRIVE THE DRIVE TRAIN IS NO DIFFERECT THE A 88 OR NEWER 760 SEDAN THEY ARE STUFFED WITH LOTS OF SOUND INSULATION AND THE 90 HAS ABOUT 188 HORSE POWER COMPARED TO 168 FOR THE OLDER ONES FOR 2000.00 IT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD DEAL ARE YOU IN A RUST ZONE I HAVE THREE AND ONE IS A 1990 GOOD LUCK PETER

I just picked up a 1991 Bertone Coupe for $1,500 from a charity lot. Checking it over, mechanically and is fine except for an electrical problem. If I start it everyday it appears fine. If I skip a day I need to jump start it. It has a fairly new battery. Any ideas? Otherwise the car is flawless, detailing it this weekend.
