Bendix or Girling? Which is better? 700 1986

going to replace the worn Bendix front calipers on my 'new' 86 745. I have the option of using either Bendix (intalled now) or Girling. I can get the mounting bracket for the Girlings from a Pick N Pull so no problema. Is it worth it? Should I leave well enough alone and stick to Bendix?
gracias,
el Raidman

The caliper slides on the girling calipers tend to seize up as water and crud get past the lillte boots on the slides. When this happens you only get one pad per caliper working and a pedal that goes almost to the floor before you get any stopping. This is something that happens quite frequently here in New England. I've had both, and from a pad replacement stand point, I think I like the bendix better, only one bolt per caliper to pull.

My car originally had bendix on the front, according to ID plate on the car. At some point they were switched to Girling. I believe it was common for this to occur. Can't say why but I think they had problems with the bendix.

I can't comment on the Bendix but I do have the Girling dual piston on the wagon and it stops very well. Granted I'm used to cars with shite brakes but objectively they stop quite well.

i asked this a while back.was advised Girling better.Dont know why.My car originally came with Girling anyway.
Recently I did the Big Brake(from 262 mm to 287 mm rotors) conversion as per FAQ with the help of John Sargent.
