Triangular Passenger Window Plastic Trim loose 200

Hello, the rear triangular window exterior plastic window trim on my 1993 240 is vibrating at highway speeds. I'm not sure how the plastic window trim plate is attached to the glass or frame. This is the small triangular rear window, not the main window. There is a small rivet but no screws to tighten on the trim. Does anybody know how to secure and tighten the plastic trim? It appears hollow underneath, so was there some kind of adhesive or filler to hold it in place? Thanks!

I had this problem on my '86 - very annoying. My solution was to apply bead of black silicon sealant around the inside perimeter of the frame. To be neat, I taped off the glass first, applied the bead, and smoothed it dow with a finger.

It attaches with plastic pop rivets. Your best bet is going to be to drill out the old plastic rivets with a small drill bit (one that is the same size or only slightly larger than the hole in the middle of the rivet). The old rivet will break into two pieces when you drill it or will wiggle out easily since the center core is drilled out. Then, get yourself a cheap pop rivet gun and some small shallow aluminum pop rivets(same diameter as the old ones) to rivet the aluminum frame back in. The frame you are referring to is aluminum, I believe, and is held in with three plastic rivets(two facing the front door and one that is visible from the outside. A pop rivet gun shold cost no more than $10 from the local hardware store and the rivets should cost about $3.

Thanks for all the information. I'll give it a try, once the temp moves up above freezing. Thanks again.
