Hello everyone,

I wanted to share this shot of the 760 wagon that we reclaimed from the scrap heap. It is still in progress, (needs a headliner, exhaust, rear trans mount, etc.), but what a road machine!

I gave you a link earlier with some high prices.

Looks like this is identical to yours (listed in my city):

They are a nice car, but over engineered in the electrical department. I believe that they are a maintenance headache also, that's why folks give up on them.

That's a beauty!

"Reclaimed from the scrap heap?" That would be listed for about $9,000CDN in my area.

With the cost of parts and discounting my labor, I have $400.00 in it. We bought a total of 6 and got two nice wagons and a bushel of parts for $800.00.
The Lord wanted to bless me!

Hi again Norm,

If you think the 88 is clean, check out the 86 245 that I have been driving/working on for the past eight months. This is the one that I towed all of the others home with.

Thanks for the link, I'm surprised that they can get so much for a used Volvo up there. Of course, a lot of the worth is in how much maintenance has been done on the car so I suppose that you either pay for past work or future work.

Kindest Regards,

Hi Norm,

I've always wanted to hunt that part of the world! The closest that I came was an invitation to join a group of professional guides in Kodiak 20 years ago.

How does the weather affect body panels up there? Most of the cars that I find have exceptional bodies but no maintenance. As a matter of fact, I don't even look at a car that comes from North of North Carolina or off of the coast for that matter.

Right now I am selling my first refurbish project, the 245 that is in my profile. I will still have an 87 745 Turbo, 88 765 Turbo, 93 944, 86 244, all of which will be sold as we acculmulate others.

Keep Warm!

My brother-in-law recently netted a large goat ... apparently some kind of record for size. He was quite happy about that one! This was way up in Northern BC.

As far as rusting, most of the Volvos in our area seem to be in good shape. It's quite damp and rainy here but not much snow so little salt gets on the road. My '89 745 only has a small speck (1/2") of visible rust where it was lightly smacked.

That's a good collection you have!

I live just north of vancouver, in Powell River, and I bought an '85 760GLE sedan with no rust whatsoever, save for in a few paint chips.

it came from the vancouver area, and had lived there since it was first sold.

seeing the lack of rust in this climate is what sold me on volvo here

It must be because of the salt on the roads, and not much to do with the salt in the air (as a result of being close to the water).

My Volvo body looks like it would last another 20yrs ... can't say that for the poor '84 Accord that has just entered "Fender Flapping Mode."

That is interesting, considering the climate. I know that the cars from the North Eastern US do not fair so well because of salt during the winter.
