LHD to RHD 200

Thinking of converting my '86 240 Wagon (automatic tranny)to Right-Hand Drive.I think I can mount the brake booster on the right side, brake and gas pedal as well, modifying the accelerator cable with a pulley system. But my BIG question is "can I flip the steering rack and steering wheel successfully?" I know it sounds like a lot of work. I just want to know if it CAN be done before I start the project. I am a rural carrier for the post office, and currently use the Volvo on my route. I am tired of sitting on the wrong side of the car while using my extended left leg reaching over to use the brake/gas. I have an old postal Jeep (RHD) but there just isn't enough room for mail AND packages. Lookinf forward to any and all responses!

Cheaper to import an Aussie Volvo 200

Seriously.
There are lots more problems you have not considered:
Exhaust manifold clearance with Steering shaft and rack
Brake booster same deal (consider the effect of manifold heat on brake lines and fluid

I have seen a few OZ Spec 240's when I was in OZ and was amazed at the back flips people went thru to overcome the above problems (insulation, wraps, etc)not to mention the need for a complete UK/OZ dashboard and pedal assembly.

Like I said, find an OZ spec Volvo on EBay.AU and buy/ship it to USA.

Yes, shipping one here is another possibility. I wasn't sure what the cost of importing one to Oregon would cost. I'll check out that option. Thanks, Jeff

I havent' done a Volvo, but I've done some BMWs for ppl buy purchasing front end chops.

Most of the time, I've been able to find donar cars in junk yards by using various parts search engines. A couple have had to be shipped from over seas. Still much cheaper than shipping complete cars.

Here's the basic idea, borrowed from another.

Ya- possibly finding something in a wrecking yard may work. I should have mentioned- I'm not interested in moving the dash and all it's components to the right side. I was thinking I could go to the U-Pull-It and bolt on the pedals to the right side floorboard/firewall and make any neccessary modifications to make it workable. Or maybe some kind of Bolt-On steering wheel with a pulley system not unlike a fan belt-type connection to the existing steering wheel. I would be worried about moving the brake booster and master cylinder so close to the exhaust manifold. Hmmm, guess I'll have a beer and stare at the car awhile and wait til a new idea comes to me!!
