I need to replace the front bumper, at least the front right bumper shock (as well as the front right bumper) and hoodlatch and am wondering what model and years will work. Its very hard to find a '74 donar car in the junkyards these days. Perhaps I will get lucky and pre 240 parts will fit right in...but I doubt it.
I needed to fix or replace the fender anyway and am not oposed to using the early 140 style....
Snow plows can be mean things you should see what happened to the skis that I used to mark the car... all chewed up and spit out onto the hillside...oh well...this injuy is minor compared to the attack the wild Peugot 505 turbo that took out the rear left quarter panel and suspension last summer...

The hood latch should be the same on all 140's and 240's until 1993. The only exception is the longer hood on 264 and some 240's. I replace the hood latch on my car (74 144) with one from a 240 and the parts were identical. You can have my old latch if you want, it has some surface rust, but otherwise works fine. I have both the latch for the hood and the catch mounted to the front plate.

Thanks for your offer. I found a latch on a earlier 142 at Pick 'n Pull yesterday. It looks like it will work. I still need to find a right front fender and bumper shock. Do you know if there are any "tricks" to removing and installing 140 fenders? Looks fairly straightforward but I am thinking it might be difficult to get it to fit correctly.

As you might have figured out by now, the front bumper of a 74 144 is unique to that year. However, the front bumper of a 74 AND 75 164 is the same, and you should have no problems switching between those years. If you are sourcing from other years, the shocks might fit, although the bumper won't. Hood latch should be the same from 73-74 144, 164, and 75 164. You might want to check earlier years, they might fit.
