96 965 brake pads shifting /clicking. Anyone else? 900 1996

Hello, everyone.
When I use the brakes on my 1996 965, especially when I am stopping in reverse and then again when I stop in drive the first time after leaving reverse, the brakes make a loud metallic "clunk", which I imagine is the pads shifting within the caliper seat. Now, I don't think this is that big a deal, but is it indicative of a poorly done brake job and or missing/improperly installed parts, such as those little clips that go on the pads? Or maybe something else? Any ideas?

check the sliding pins for the caliper.they can get stuck and not release the caliper.this happened to mine.

Get Volvo pads, read the FAQ, and look at the instructions at volvospeed

By my signature, you can tell that we have seen a few brake jobs - no problems when done properly by a Volvo tech. (Not even a single squeal!)

One thing that I have seen a LOT on this board and volvospeed is brick owners complaining about their brake jobs - a lot are happy after changing to Volvo pads. --

My newly installed Dan-Dlock pads did the same thing. After replacing them with Volvo brake pads, I don't hear the annoying click anymore. I think the shim on the pad makes the difference.

Mine's always done it. Never bothered to figure out what it was. As long as the car stops I don't care.
