odometer works in below freezing temps?

The strangest thing occurs when the temperature drops below freezing. My odometer which doesn't usually work suddenly begins to work and like clockwork when the temperature rises the odometer stops turning. Any thoughts?

If you are in 240, 1985 or before, here's an idea. There is a place in the odometer gearing where a plastic gear grips a steel shaft. The gear tends to lose its grip over time. Cold temps might cause it to shrink just enough to grip again - enjoy!

Good Luck,

Bob
