My 85 740t refuses to start, I have spark and fuel pressure at the fuel rail. The problem is the injectors will not fire. The car does not have a radio suppression relay)RSR)(like the 86 and up LH2.2), but the ballast resistors are fine. If by suppling power to the ballast resistors, could this help my problem? Should I have constant power at the resistors? This is the first car I ahve owned that does not have the RSR, can I install one if suppling power to the resistor pack works? Am I on the right track, or out in left field?

PS, The harness seems fine(wires are not brittle).

    How do you know the injectors are not firing ?

    Did you pull the plugs to see if they had fuel on them ? If not, do so...

    If you do have fuel on your plugs, blow dry them out with compressed air or a hair dryer.

    Then pull out the dipstick and smell the oil, if it smells like gas EVEN SLIGHTLY, change the oil and the car will start, CRANK IT until it starts, trust me.

    If I remember correctly, the fuel pump relay also supplies power to the injectors. Fuel pump relay a know problem. Check the FAQs
