850 wheel spacers...where to get and how much $$$ ? 200

So I found some 850 wheels for $25 bucks each on craigslist, the owner is sending me pics in a few minutes...If I like them, where do I get the spacers to put them on my 242? How much do they cost? Thanks everyone!

The spacers from Gil Racing are not cheap but when you see them, you will understand why. The precision machining required to make them hub centric is what makes them so high quality. I have a set on my 242 to mount 17" Volans. Without the hubcentric feature, they WILL vibrate at speed. BTW, with Gilracing, you don't need longer studs. There are 5 studs installed in the spacers and the unit bolts to the hub. Volvo does make spacers for the rear of the 240 and uses longer studs that pass through the spacer. Super hard to find and only for the rear end. They were used to square the track of the 240 for racing. I have a new set on the shelf but prefer to use the Gil pieces.

What you need are adapters, not spacers. The aforementioned gilracing.com ones are excellent, as they're hubcentric to both the existing hub and the wheel going on. Many others do not, and are very easy to incur vibrations.

If these are at least 16, they may be worth considering. Otherwise, it'll be cheaper to get a set of RWD rims.

Gil Racing inc. does refer to their product as "spacers" vs. adapters. . .but you're absolutely right, they are used to adapt late model oem wheels to our cars. So they serve a dual purpose - to allow for the conversion while widening the stance.

The problem might be longer lugs that are needed. Volvo Sweden sells them. Unless you get the fancy spacers that use the 850 lug bolts. But jeez, $250-300 ??? I just got 16" alloys with good tires (75% tread) out of the pick 'n pull for $135 and the donor 244 car had spacers, the cheapo ones. No way in frozen hell am I paying for gold spacers.

Gilracing.com carries the nicest custom machined spacers I've seen, but they're currently waiting for their next order to come in at the moment (I know because I need them myself to convert 850 T5s to my 245). The spacers will allow you to convert the later model Volvo wheels to your 242. They're a little pricey (around $250-300 for four), but they're supposedly well worth the investment.
