Radio whine tasking me 900 1993

I thought I had it licked.
I replaced the engine and injector relays on the '93 960 to cure the intermittent radio whine.
Though reduced, it is still there!
Several other misc. relays have been replaced, and alternator wires, grounds cleaned.
Is it the diodes in the alternator that are on the way out?
What about fitting a "noise filter" to the radio supply. I would but it's a rats nest back there, which one is the positive?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Dan

Radio whine tasking me 900 1993

I just read in the FAQ that failing alternator diodes can cause radio whine on the FM scale. If you've never replaced your voltage regulator, and depending on mileage, it may be worth doing. I just pulled mine while diagnosing some battery drain/lack of charge problems, the brushes are down to 5mm / 3/16" which is what many here recommend replacement at. Car has 150k miles.

Good luck,
Bean
