Tranny fluid change 900

Anyone performed a tranny fluid change on a '95 965? I understand the fluid is supposed to be 'permanent', and for that resaon the dipstick is short and almost inaccessible. If you have, what type and quantity of fluid did you use.
thanks

If your fluid looks or smells bad, I recommeed home flushing with dino ATF for a few thousand miles to clean out the crud, then reflush with a synthetic like M1 ATF. It's easy to do and takes less than 1 hour at home.

I agree with Steve--I've changed the ATF in my 96 965 at least three times. I use synthetic which I think makes a big difference both in shift quality as well as in temp reduction.

You can change it yourself using the directions in the FAQs or you can have an independent mechanic do it. I use 12 quarts of fluid to do the flush.

Hope this helps.

No fluid is permanent. Try a system flush through the cooler tubes: see the 700/900 FAQ for tips. Use a good synthetic such as Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.
