Center Dash Lights Out? 200 1993

I'm thinking it's a ground because they came on the other night for a brief moment. It is just the lights over the heater controls and the radio lights. The instrument panel lights are working as well as the Auto Trans shift light. One of those minor but PITA problems. Please help.

    On our 83 the ground for these is a Black wire terminating in a ring fitting under a screw on the metal leg of the center console down by the trans tunnel near the corner of the driver's seat. It is also the ground for the cigar lighter/cell phone charger, so if it too, is dead, there you are.
