Dreaming, but stuff 2.9 I6 or Volvo's V8 from XC90 in old 242gt? 200

How possible would either be?

I know i could get 300hp out of a turbo 2.3. But I want a bigger engine.

How much could I get out of the 2.9 inline 6? Anyone ever tried stuffing it in 2XX?

And what if I could find a V8 from an XC90 at the junkyard -- would that be too complicated to fit?

I could stuff a Ford 5.0 in it, but I'd like to stay in the Volvo family.

Also, what about the new 6 speed trannies? Could they fit up to the 2.3, the 2.9, or the V8?

I'm aware this is mostly total dreaming, but just curiuos what others' thoughts are!!!

Dan

There's a couple guys in Australia, one who races a 740 (Dick Prince; www.ovlov.com), and Anthony Hyde (sorry, I don't recall his web address).

I seem to remember that on Dick's site there's a photo of a 240 with an I-6 installed... I know I've seen it somewhere, so it's possible.

A V8 from an XC90? Man, I don't want to rain on your parade or anything, but I would certainly think cost and complexity would be high. If those points aren't show-stopper issues for you, then cool! Press on.

As far as the Ford engine and the desire to stay Volvo goes... remember, Ford owns Volvo..!
