strange touch-up paint... 700 1989

I did some touch up last week end. Hadn't done it in almost a year. But it appears much darker than last time (and than the surrounding paint)! (I thought it would clear up when dry so I did quite a few spots).
Has anybody else had this (unpleasant) experience? is the touch up paint too old or because of the cold temperatures? (for info, car was garaged and didn't change color since last year!!). Any comments welcome!

Maybe I just was fortunate when I had my 91 940 - which was red. For wahtever reason - back then - I bought some GM touch up paint - just by sight match, if I recall.

It was a perfect match. Every time I have bought the paint that was supposed to be 'RIGHT' for teh car - it was darker, as you say.

Thanks for your comments. I wish my Volvo was red.... when I bought it the previous owner couldn't even describe the color (he said "a color that doesn't exist any more!). Officially it's 'dark grey' but on the title it's described as brown (good metallic paint though).
Anyway my touching up was just fine last year and turned much darker this time; I wonder whether touch-up paint has expiration dates?
