IPD poly sway bar mounts 200

I just opened my IPD sway bar mount kit, and the new mounts don't seem to have any slits in them to allow you to get them onto the bar. Of course you can't slip them onto the ends, so I'm wondering how they expect you to get them on? Before I cut my own slits in the poly, I figured I'd better check to make sure there's not something I'm missing. There are no instructions.

IPD poly sway bar mounts 200

I just installed a set on my '86 a couple of weeks ago and they had the slits in them. I also got the end link kit bushing too. I upgraded to the larger sway bars and love the way it handles. My only complaint is that in cold weather they squeek and moan esp at slow speeds when going over bumps and small dips in the road. I put some poly bushing lube from autozone on the main bracket bars, it helped a little so I guess I'll have to put some on the link bushings too.
Oh well, that's what Sundays are for.....playing under the brick.

Enjoy

squeeks and moans -- did you use the original grease supplied from IPD? 200

When I got my IPD swaybars, it included a packet of special grease to put in the recess in the bushings. Did you do that?

Thanks.

To Ken C
I only used the grease (green) supplied to press in the end link bushing. I didn't think I would have the queaking/moaning issue until a day or so later. By then the garbage man had made his stop. So that's when I got the poly bushing grease at auto zone. It helped somewhat, but I still think I need to put some on the two end pieces of the end link that is attached to the end of the sway bar.

how about sliding them on from the ends.

There's no way to do that. Remember the ends are fat because they attached to the end links. And it would never make it around the bend in the sway bar. I just slit them on the forward side. That must be what you're supposed to do, because there is no other way, and the original rubber is slit there.

Heat a pot of linseed oil to 180 200

Just kidding - slit 'em.
