busted door locks 1975 TAKE 2

So-- Here's my problem. My 75 240 is a New York City Street car and someone was kind enough to take a screwdriver to the lock cylinders on the doors. One is ruined and the other is barely working. I've looked through many junkyards and the 75 is getting real hard to find model specific parts for. From 76 on till forever, the door cylinders are different-and I might add-better designed. They have a flat behind the metal held by TWO set screws. 74-75 cylinders slip into almost a little tunnel in the door and is held by ONE set screw. Does anyone know of a source for these besides Volvo?
They want about $90 for each one keyed to the VIN #. If I could find a pair from the same car--even without a key--I think I could file a blank key to fit it. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated--I've had this 240 since it's birth and I never intend to give it up!

Gregg M.

P.S. EvanR---I've tried to e-mail you several times but keep getting a block by comcast.net My e-mail is gmartin@brooklynfriends.org THANKS

busted door locks 1975 TAKE 2

Hey, I am in midstate NY. I do not usually see volvo's of that vintage in any of the boneyards, but I will keep my eyes open.
It sounds like the door hole size is different? Are yours more similiar to the 140 series then? Is there any way you can adapt the later style without any major hacking? The later series is easily obtainable and you could even then adapt power locks, if you don't already have them, and then install a keyless entry system! Someone who lives in a less rust prone state should be able to obtain your vintage locks from a pick-and-pull for a very small amount of money and I hope they help you out!
There are some other sources around up here that would take me awhile to track down; if you don't get helped by anyone you can email me and I will try to do something for you... it would take awhile though...
    Good luck

      Thanks for the response--

You've really hit the problem on the head. The thing is the hole is not a hole as in later models but actually a small tunnel that the cylinder slips into. So far i have not tried to modify to adapt to the abundant available later models, but that may be the only alternative if these become so hard to find.

By the way, I normally do all the repair work I can do to this "city car" upstate in the Adirondacks in the summer. Where are you upstate and can you reccomend any pick and pulls north of Albany? I only have one in New Jersey and the pickings are becoming pretty slim.

      Thanks Gregg
