Brake Pulsing 200

I'm having some difficulty with the brakes on my 245 DL. Several months ago I put new rotors and pads on the rear, and today I put new rotors and pads on the front to get rid of pulsing when braking. I was sure the new rotors on the front would cure this, but alas, it has not. The car is smooth at 70+ on the freeway, so it's not a wheel balance problem. I just had the Virgos with recent tires balanced.
Does anyone have any idea why or how this is occuring?
Thanks...

If you have no luck with any of the other ideas, you might try pulling off the rotors to clean and smooth the mating surfaces on the hubs. Make sure you have the rotor and hub aligned correctly and clean all the rust!

    G'luck,

Thank you for some help. I was sure I had rusted fins in the rotors and thought replacing them would cure this. Uneven mating surfaces didn't occur to me, but now I'll pull it apart and get busy with a wire brush. If that doesn't do it, I'll look into checking steering components.
      Thx,

Agreed. Pull wheel and check for rotor run-out ("wobble") with a dial indicator if possible.

A smooth, clean hub-to-rotor mating surface is essential.

Check for slop in the steering components. Jack up each wheel and have somebody push-pull on the wheels with you under there to see if you have play in the ball joints, tie rod ends, etc.

Check also your brake pads for uneven wear. If you've got a bad caliper it might cause pulsating.

I'll do that and I know a bit about checking steering parts, but I know nothing about how to check a caliper. Is there any way I can test them?

Check the archives here for more info. Maybe search "caliper" or "rebuilt caliper" or "stuck caliper piston".

You can do this before or after pulling the rotors, although after will give you a better view of the inside of the caliper. Pull pads out - carefully! Look inside for leaking brake fluid. This is indicative of torn or leaking piston dust boots or seals. If this is the case, there is a possibility of a caliper piston sticking to the rotor and not retracting. If this goes on long enough, the piston can seize onto the rotor causing overheating and rotor warpage. Check to see if the pistons will retract using something with a smooth surfcae like a piece of wood...

IMO - This is probably not the case in your situation as you were able to retract the pistons enough to install new rotors and pads. Did you notice anything weird when you did either of your brake jobs??

No, nothing strange in retracting the pistons except for one caliper was a bit more difficult, but I worked it free. No evidence of any leak. I agree with you that it wouldn't be a stuck piston warping the rotor since it was immediately driven and the pulsing was still the same as before.
          I'll keep after it......
          Thx,
