Springtime in New York City... 120-130

Hello All:

As some of you may have noticed, I recently bought a 1967 Volvo 122S wagon and I live in a suburb just north of New York City. With my first Volvo-owner spring coming I thought it might be fun to plan an outing, perhaps at the Rockaways or some other park or beach where Amazon folks in the area could meet and greet, compare tips, see who has what in terms of tools, manuals, etc. and just get to know each other better. I know my wife and girls would really like to meet other people who spend too much time caring for the world's greatest cars.

Any takers? Suggestions for dates and locations would be most welcome, as would anyone from outside the New York City area who would just like to take a nice drive and meet similarly-minded lunatics.

A few places that I thought might be worth meeting are:

Coney Island
The Far Rockaways
Bear Mountain
One of the beautiful overlooks on the Palisades in New Jersey
Stone Farm at Blue Hills up in Westchester County
Flushing Meadows Park in Queens
The Botanical Gardens in the Bronx

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo

Hi--I live about 2 hrs outside Manhattan (used to work there, and used to live in Queens), but am up in NYC quite a bit these days, and am looking to take my 122 up for a visit sometime soon--it won't likely be ready for that trip until mid-May though. If you have your gathering after that point, let me know.

Thanks!

I'm game. I live at 2nd and Houston in Manhattan. I'm partial to going north rather than out to the Island. There is a group (Knights of the round Fender) ramrodded by Kevin Higgins in Flushing who have agathering in May/June.
I'm not going anywhere until I get my generator sorted out.

Jeff,
Springtime seems to always mean I have far more to do than I like, so free time is usually in short supply, but keep me posted. It'd be fun to see some of the other NYC area Amazons- I know of two other Amazons that live in the East village. My vote would be for Bear Mountain or the Palisades, just to get out to somewhere a little more green.

BTW, I have an as-yet untested JC Whitney hub puller (hopefully successfully tested after next week when I replace the wheel cylinders) if you need to borrow it. Seem to remember mention of needing one a while back.

Kansas that is.

Hope y'alls can make a good get together and have fun! Take pics and post 'em!

Hello All:

Okay, this feels like this is coming together. I need more information about Knights of the Round Fender but the cruise up to Bear Mountain for the cruise night sounds fantastic. I went to the website and it looks like they might get a decent turnout.

A few folks indicated mid-May would be the earliest they could go due to mechanical issues. Maybe we should shoot for the second Wednesday in June, June 8th.

Can anyone provide information about KotRF? Google turned up nothing.

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo
