Temp gauge not working 200 1987

I've got a 1987 240 DL wagon with a temperature gauge that is not working most of the time. Sometimes it will register, but only for a short while. I guess I need to know where it is getting its temperature reading from so I can check for a problem with the connection. Any ideas on how to fix this problem is welcome.

Temp gauge not working 200 1987

I used the IPD bypass kit on my 91 240 a couple weekends ago - had the same symptoms you did. Here is the link:

The temp compensation board apparently fails fairly often. Took about 30 minutes to do the bypass. There is little to the part - but the instructions are worth the $15 or so. Call them and they'll probably drop it in an envelope w/ no shipping.

    Good luck!

Temp gauge not working usually means the temp compensatin board is failing.... 200 1987

look in the FAQs (good for many 240 things, too) and the archives for repair and/or bypass instructions.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
