No fuel pressure- 1972 164 w/D Jet 140-160 1972

There we were just moving along wonderfully in the 164 with D Jet, when the fuel pressure dropped to zero and the engine stalled. I know this because there is a fuel pressure gauge in the car. Anyway, after being towed home, I determined that there is plenty of fuel in the tank, the fuel pump runs for the 2-3 seconds when the key is in the run position and, because I have an auxiliary on off switch routed through a relay to the fuel pump I can make the fuel pump run continuously. Still no fuel pressure. I have not yet pulled the fuel line at the cold start injector or emptied the tank to see if the pick up tube is broken. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for all input.

No fuel pressure- 1972 164 w/D Jet 140-160 1972

You might want to check the input side of the pump assuming it is the same as I had on my 75 164. My engine quit and I found that there was a needle valve that was malfunctioning. Took the needle valve out and put the line back and away I went. I never had any more problems after that. It's just a thought.

No fuel pressure- 1972 164 w/D Jet 140-160 1972

1) Broken line between tank and pump, or leaking air.

2) Line completely obstructed.

3) Pressure regulator verkracht and returning all fuel back to the tank.

In order of ease 140-160 1972

1. Smell/look around for wet fuel traces.
2. Pinch return hose shut see if pressure rises.
3. Remove fuel line rail, see if pumps lots and fast.
