Dash light question 900 1993

We had a dash light come on yesterday and don't know what it means. The car was purchased in Jan. 2005 and doesn't have an owners manual. The light comes on when you press on the brake pedal. The light looks like an upside down light bulb with an ! inside and sun rays around the outside.Everything works fine. Also , Where can I get an owners manual for a 1993 940 Wagon non turbo? Thanks Matt

Here is a link to Volvo's Library.
    http://www.volvocars.us/_Tier2/Owners/Library.htm
You can look up all the manuals that came with your car.

    Dash light question 900 1993

If the "bulb-out" light comes on and stays on when the car is running, you surely have a burned out bulb, brake light in this case, or at least an imbalance in the electric current between the two brake bulbs. If the light comes on for a short while then goes out, you likely have a slight imbalance or a poor connection in the socket. I've had several cars do this and I don't worry about it as long as the bulb-out light doesn't stay on.

Sorry I didn't check the FAQ very thoroughly. I found the Volvo website but still had a problem so I emailed Volvo. I checked to see if there is a burned out bulb and every thing looks okay. The light is off on the dash presently. It has been very rainy and damp the last few days. Time will tell. Thanks for the quick reply. I will keep posted if the problem persists. Matt

Owners manuals may be had online from Volvo Cars NA (see the 700/900 FAQ under features button above for the URL).

The lamp is the "bulb out" indicator, showing that there is a current imbalance between two parallel bulbs. Look for a bulb burned out. More tips in the FAQ.
