Sources for Class II Trailer Hitches? 900

Sadly I just missed out on a hitch on eBay and no new ones have appeared. I've searched several source and the best price I've found in around 150.00. Does anyone have a suggestion for a cheaper source of a class 2 hitch for my 1995 940 Wagon. Anyone have one they want to sell?

Btw: I've already ordered the brakelight kit from IPD, so I just need a hitch and ball setup.

    I just pulled a Volvo tow hitch from a 1988 765T, for installation on my 1989 765T.

I'm still waffling about whether or not I want to cut up the rear skirt. I $#@! hate shipping stuff (I'm out in California). But if you're interested it's yours for $65 + whatever Mailboxes Etc wants to ship it to you. It's missing one of the longer bolts. The rest of the mounting hardware is present.

Thanks for the offers and all the comments. I looked around for a while and finally settled on a Reese Hitch for $122 with an included socket connector. The drawtite was $116.00 but didn't come with a connector bar and didn't have the "weight distribution" ability (should I ever need it). Both have exactly the same weight ratings so it just came down to what I was getting and the shipping cost (which were also different). These seemed to be the best prices I could come by, but I didn't consider the bars from other makes.

I called *every* junkyard in the St. Louis area and nobody had a hitch from a wrecked 700/900. Surprising since we have so many of those here.

I also ordered the taillight conversion kit from IPD. If I need to use the hitch to get the 122 back home, I should be good to go (provided I can find a car-carrier on the way).

That's a great website you have. On the pages that have multiple sub-pages though, none of the links work (for example, if you try to go to page 2 of your link above).

Is it just me, or do you have the same problem?

No, it's not just you. I switched that computer to a different web server (lighttpd) so I could run rails apps somewhat quickly. Unfortunately the two PHP applications (imp and gallery) that I use were designed for a different web server (apache). I'll look into the problem tonight.

Drawtie which I believe makes the Volvo Hitch (or maybe it's the IPD one) can be found on the web I've had two of them (differnt cars) and they're good hitches, matching up with the frame holes. The hitch is $107 the draw bar is about $20 and the ball is about $7. I used the Volvo wiring system.

I got a ford econline van hitch to fit on a 89 745
northern tool and equipment had a close out sale
    and the
5000lbs rated hitch was 31.99 or too cheap to pass up
needed holes redrilled but no cutting
too low and too heavy but I need a strong hitch
for short trips with heavy sailboats
rear plastic bit was removed and
ext pipe end needed to be pointed away
I think 700 and 900 use the same hitch

    I found a couple of sources - opinions? 900

    This site has two listed.
    http://www.etrailer.com/products.asp?model=940+Series&category=hitch&year=1995&make=Volvo&t1=&h=e

I'm thinking the $116 model as it's socketed and the lower facia gets trimmed, but not removed. It'd be about $144 ncluding the draw bar, reciever, and a 2" ball.

This site only listed one model.
    http://search.cartserver.com/search/search.cgi?cartid=s-2126&bool=AND&category=reese_combo&maxhits=25&keywords=1995&keywords_2=Volvo+940&GO=GO%21

it's $121 w/o a ball, but it can "distribute weight" unlike the other two it also includes the socket and drawbar putting it at the same price as the etrailer model.

Ipd wants $188 for just the hitch.
    http://www.ipdusa.com/ProductsCat.aspx?CategoryID=198&NodeID=870&RootID=629

I'm leaning towards the instahitch at hitchfinder.com. (the $121.00 model)
    So, any warnings, recommendations?

Will one of a sedan work?

I'm going to the junkyard today to get an Idle Air Control for my 940. They have a gorgeous 940 down there. it had a front end collision that did not even cause the airbags to deploy, so I wonder why it was totalled out by the insurance company. seems to be a terrible waste. Just a new fender, a new hood and some panel beating and it would be beautiful again... I never have understood insurance companies.

anyhow, it is a sedan and it seems to me that it had a trailer hitch. I'm going to go there today, so I'll look for you. Then if they have it I'll give you their number and you can call them and they can pull it and ship it to you.

    Fred

it appears, (at least when you look at trailer hitch suppliers), that the Sedan and the Wagon use the same hitch.

I think it would work. (Comments Please!!!!)
As long as it's reasonably priced with shipping, I'd be very intrested in getting it. Please let me know.
      Thanks!

Go to the trailer hitch manufacture websites and check their catalogs for year fit. I know the later 960 hitches i've seen have the same mounting, but hang real low and require an insert with about a 6"lift ( I tried one on my '93 940t and it mounted up ok, but the thing dragged on driveways )

IF you get lucky , you might find one at a upullit boneyard. I've got one hitch that way for $15. otherwise the regular boneyards around here get about $50

I've also lived in a North Little Rock hotel for months while I was working at Camp Robinson. Small World. In Fact, I going right through Little Rock on my way down to get the 122 in Texas.
