Engine Compartment Rust 200

My 1986 240 has almost no visible rust on the body, but when I powerwashed the engine compartment I found surface rust all over.

Since it's difficult to get at it all, I was wondering if there is something to treat the rusty areas with to keep it from getting worse.

I wiped one area down with engine oil, and was thinking that some grease might even be better.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I'm a beleiver in POr-15. I've used it on the rust on my car with great results. Here is the site.

What's nice is that you paint this stuff on the rust. It bonds and completely seals it.

Do you have a product called "Rust Check" available to you? works great , we have dealers in Canada (Toronto) that will spray the entire car for a minimum amount I do both my 1990 -740 - & 1992-940 no rust, each year before the start of winter. The product suspends rust and crepts into tiny crevices. The product can also be purchased at Automotive Stores.
