Graphite Grey 91 240 with 760 Turbo Wheels. You can see a fair amount of caliper through the wheels, so I want to paint the calipers to look flashy.

Yellow?
Red?
or Blue?

Dash lights are blue.

No, no, no, no please don't do that nonsense, why destroy the refined dignity of a Volvo?

Perhaps a ricer would be a more appropriate ride for that stuff. Then you could install a silly looking fin on he trunk lid, perhaps some decal tuning, silver window tint, 1" profile tires. Heck maybe even spinners!

Hi David,
Funny you should mention spinners. I actually saw a fairly late model SAAB on the Mass. Pike recently with spinners on it ...i couldn't believe my eyes. On top of that they were cheap plastic fakes.

You need to put some lights in there so they will really pop at night.

Just think of that red, lit-up caliper strobing through the wheel openings!

go with BLACK. there is a fine line between flashy and cheesy. go with a color that will look professionally done, but won't be eye catching. that way those who appreciate such things will notice and applaud, but everybody else on the street won't have their attention drawn to your brakes. just my opinion.

Yeah, go with the color that closely resembles dirty brake dust....way cool.

Forget Porsche Red, who wants to be eye catching!!
The only point to painting the calipers is to be eye catching or did I miss something?

yeah, i take back what i said before about black. hot pink would be catchy and SWEEEEEET!

man, don't ruin a nice looking (?) volvo by painting little details flashy colors. you'll start to look like all the shitty race cars on cardomain.com that have painted air vents and trim pieces and stuff like that.

Ya know the original question wasn't asking for people to attack others' preferences. Quite frankly I don't see how brake dust resembles gloss black, other than neither are penismobile... er.. Porsche red.

Oh, I fully support attacking other people's preferences. It makes life more exciting.

Black would be cool, but the lack of light would make it almost un-noticable. not to mention they are already almost black.

Red it is.

I would go with the RED color, it's sexy.

Try IPDUSA.COM for a first choice, they sell DIY kits at $42.95.....

The website says:
Each kit contains two-part epoxy paint, step by step instructions, paint brush, and a can of brake cleaner to prep the surface before painting.

The high temp finish seals and protects the calipers, is oil and chemical resistant and, because of the gloss finish, it will be easier to clean accumulated brake dust from the smooth calipers. BLAH! BLAH!!

Or have someone do a paint powder-coating process that works on valve covers etc.
I would do the powder coating 'cause I don't want to break a nail.

Kestrel? Sweet....
As a matter of idle curiosity, I wonder how many Volvo afficionados are also dedicated cyclists (or at least wannabes... my Marinoni & Pinarello are still collecting dust but it's nearly to the point where the guilt I feel every time I walk past them will drive me to get out & blow up a lung).

Hello Chris:

Koga Miyata MB of similar vintage as my Volvo-- my daily driver-- my wife uses the 245 to pick up and drop off the kids at daycare. I ride year-yound unless there is freezing rain or snow so deep that I can't get through it (only happened once this winter).

I have two other Volvo owner friends who are serious cycling enthusiasts here in town too!

Volvos are great, but not as fuel-efficient as bikes-- I am still trying to get over the "sticker shock" now that regular is $0.90/l!

Yes, the fork has a full sloping engraved crown, all chrome.

And sorry it's not for sale, I love the craftsmanship on those frames, they're like works of art.

I just lost 30lbs, and I'm holding out hope of of hitting the mean streets of D.C. once again.

I posted the first message, but could not remember my password, so I rolled with the Awesome.

But I have been riding for about the last 6 years. When I graduated from school, I drove my old 85 from Missouri to Houston with 4 bikes on the roof. All of them mine.

3 Voodoo mountain bikes
1 Salsa road bike
1 531 steel fixie.

It seems like the Volvo is the college bikers car of choice.
