AC compressor ground wire 91 740. 700 1991

I was trying to find why my mother's ac would not work and saw that the compressor would not cut on. I jumped the switch on the accumulator and the clutch did not engage. I then pulled the plug for the power to the clutch and found I had a circuit with my multimeter with the compressor casing. I then checked for a circuit with the engine block and found none.

So I looked behind and found a wire hooked to the side of the block that looked like it used to reach the compressor and had the eye shear off. I did not see any ground wire from the compressor. Where on the compressor did the ground hook up?

I might just find a useful bolt and make a new ground wire, But I would prefer to reuse the original ground location. Anybody know?

Its fixed 700 1991

Found the remains of the old ring terminal on a mounting bolt and hooked it all back up right. Nothing better in this life than a Happy Mom.

AC compressor ground wire 91 740. 700 1991

On my 92 745 the ground wire went to one of the two bolts that hold the compressor to the big metal bracket that the compressor and alt. secure to. The reason you need this ground is that the compressor is mounted with rubber gromets and does not make a ground to the engine.

Best of luck getting this working...

Yeh, I figured the mounts were rubber. I just can't see where the wire used to hook up. Guess I'll shoot for one of those bolts.

Thanks

On edit: with a jumper wire to case and wire, the ac works. Just gotta put a new end and I'm done.
