Spark Plug Clarification Please - 1981 Turbo 200

The owners manual recommends the same spark plug for both Turbo and non-Turbo. It recommends Bosch WR7DS which I believe cross references to an NGK BPR6ES for both engines. IPD recommends this plug for a non-Turbo and a BPR7ES for the Turbo engine. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not sure which to buy for my son's 81 Turbo.

This is correct. According to NGK, the NGK 6 is the equivalent to the Bosch 7.
The NGK 7 plug is colder than the NGK 6 plug -- this is why IPD recommends it for Turbo engines. I believe many run the colder plug; however, you can run either plug and both should be fine. I've got the 7s in an 89 760 Turbo and the engine runs well. A perspective is if you plan a lot of city driving go with the 6s or if primarily highway go with the 7s.

The BPR6ES will be fine for the turbo engine. Unless your son is routinely driving the car very hard, and pinning the boost gauge at every opportunity, you don't need the 7's. The NGK plugs are best - I don't like Bosch anymore simply because they have flooded the market with gimmick plugs.
