960 hot start 900

The 960 has been flawless since installing the fuel rail...except for one little problem. The car has what I call a "vapor lock" in that it will occasionally not start after being driven a distance or a lot of stop/go driving. It takes it about 15 min to restart...unless I hold down the pedal and crank and crank. Also, it will immediately restart if I release fuel pressure at the check valve on the end of the rail. Any ideas? I don't like my mother getting caught out in it in the summer heat.

How is the idle? Reason I ask is, if you just replaced the fuel rail the possibility seems high that you may have gotten a small piece of dirt into one of the injectors that is keeping it from fully closing. Hence the gas leaks in and sets up a flooded condition. Instrument the fuel rail with a pressure gauge and see if the pressure starts dropping immediately after you shut off. This indicates a leak either injector or FPR.

Suggest checking for a bad Fuel Pressure Regulator by checking your fuel pressure with a pressure gauge at idle with the vacuum hose attached and then detached.
