I was just wondering how many guys are out there running itb cars.
I'll be first on the list.
Marc

You two are the only ones that I've ever seen mention having ITB cars...

Marc, do you still want some 10 spoke wheels?

I want to know more about ITB cars... My 142 wouldn't be able to become one because I've taken so much crap off of it, and every ITB car I see looks to have EVERY single stock exterior piece in place... Is there a link somewhere that says what you can/can't do?

Are you guys allowed to lower the front spring cup?

How's the car coming along Marc? What's the latest on it? Were you getting your engine rebuilt or something? I think I heard that somewhere...

Looks like Gary's got it about covered. You can take all the weight out you want but when the car hits the scales with you in the car it need to hit 2460lbs.

My car is over at the Vshop right now getting ready for the season that has already started. On the 14th I will be down at Matrix with Peter trying to get every last HP out of it. I hear Peter is hoping for 400hp at the rear wheels with his 740ite car.

Gary do you know if you have BHP sway bars? When I got my car all that stuff came it a box with no instructions and I''m having a hard time figuring out the rear bar. If you do would it be possible to get a couple of pictures of it?

        Marc,

I just sent 5 pictures of the rear bar setup via email, let me know if you have any questions. FWIW, as you can see in the photo, the blade is in a "medium" position, I haven't felt the need to monkey with it as yet. The previous owner assured me it is very effective, with a marked difference between full soft (blade horizontal) and full hard (blade vertical).

        Marc,

Yes... the suspension on my car is what I was told is a BHP setup, with the adjustable blade rear bar. It happens to be on jackstands at the moment, so I'll slip under there and take a few pix.

BTW, I hope you haven't gone to the trouble of getting rid on an extra 180 pounds... the minimum weight with driver for the 142 is 2640, not 2460. ;)

        Later...

Ha, my car's lighter than that already...(with me in it) Well, with the interior out anyway. But then adding in a roll cage and other stuff would increase the weight. And yeah, ITB doesn't sound like something I'll do, not with this car at least, it's definitely too far gone.

Marc, I'm going to be there on the 14th as well, I was going to be dynoing my car as well, but not anymore because it's only a 3.6cylinder engine and would just be a waste of my money. So I'll just be tagging along to watch you guys and to assist my friend in getting some new numbers for his 1991 Nissan 240SX. Do you want me to bring my 10 spoke alloys with me?

      Kyle,

I can answer a few of your questions, so I'll jump in...

IT rules are fairly strict, and include a "boilerplate" paragraph right up front... if it doesn't say "yes", it means "no". In any case, here's a link to the SCCA site that contains an Adobe link to the entire General Competition Rules (GCR) book somewhere near the top of the page. But you can also go to the middle of the page and pick off the Improved Touring Category, which is that part of the GCR that essentially covers everything IT except some safety equipment specifics:

      http://www.scca.com/Club/Index.asp?reference=gcr#gcr

The quick answer to your specific questions... The exterior must remain essentially stock, but you can remove trim pieces (in our case, the stainless fender and door trim). Front air dams/spoilers are allowed within strict guidelines, bumpers must remain installed. Suspension changes are somewhat more liberal; in a nutshell, you can use any shocks or springs, to include adjustable perches and coilovers, as well as any anti-roll bar. But the basic suspension geometry cannot be changed; for instance, at the front you must use the original a-arms and spindles, and the original attachment points for same.

    Marc,

Count me in... just bought the car from David Kerr (Pittsburg, PA) this past winter. I've run at Hallett MRC (outside Tulsa, OK) a couple of times this spring. Fairly quick old Brick, it seems to be nicely suited for Hallett (no long straightaways). I honestly think I can get under the current ITB lap record with this car before the season is over.

There are a couple of pix of the car in the 140/160 gallery, here on the B'board.
