Electric Window Problems 200

Both electric windows on my 1980/1 262C Bertone have decided to stop working - typically with both half-wound down.

The problem isn't the fuse or the relay behind the dash (changed both, cleaned contacts etc.), and all the switches (and wiring to them) appear to be in good shape.

I haven't had a chance to check properly, but there is definitely no power across the electric window fuse terminals when any of the switches are depressed. There's no response or noise from either motor with the door panels off - I can probably run 12V direct to motors to get them closed, but is there anything obvious to check when the circuit isn't getting power?

Everything else electrical is working as normal, although I did lose dash lights and ignition very briefly the same day.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Check the blue wire with yellow trace from the ignition switch to right side of fuse 12.Also trace blue-yellow wire from left side of fuse 12 to relay.Check red wire from ignition switch to juction box in engine. Also trace it to right side of fuse7 and 10. Trace brown wire from fuse 10 left side to relay. Also check your ground wire from relay.Hope this helps.

You wouldn't expect to see any voltage drop ACROSS the fuse terminals if the fuse is good, but you should see a voltage difference between either terminal and ground. If no voltage there, there's a break upstream somewhere. If this is an intermittent problem, I'd clean up all of the connectors and/or follow the voltage.

Thanks - it's a permanent problem, no current across the fuse terminals.

By no current, you mean that you removed the fuse and replaced it with a test light or connected a multimeter across the terminals to measure current draw, right?

Haven't had a chance to play with a multimeter yet, but used a (very) rudimentary approach of seeing if very fine steel wool would burn or spark across the terminal - nothing doing.
