Indicator Lights - Which do you have? 700 1989

Interestingly, the owners manual for 89 760, the page on Indicator Lights, does not show an "check engine" light. Nor does it show what appears may be other indicators?

I checked the panel on key position II and there are several lights that appear to be burned out. So, I checked the manual to id them. Next, I took a bright small flashlight and shined it on to the indicator panel and what I found are additional potential indicators (which did not light and are not indicated in the manual).

Again, according to the owners manual none of these are shown. The manual lists these as (not in use). Of course, what's most surprising is the no check engine. Notwithstanding that mine appears burned out.

Here's what the flashlight check found (from left to right):

#3 - check engine - this is the first light on the far left (after 3 blanks and before the green trailer light which is before the service light).

#15 - looks like coolant overheat? - a triangle symbol - (this car does not have the coolant sensor, but evidentily has the indicator lens). #15 is just to the right of "anti-lock".

#20, 21 & 22 - #20 has a symbol that looks like a curly wire? #21 states "turbo" and #22 has a symbol that looks like something such as an exhaust system overheating? #20, 21 & 22 are the last 3 lights on the right.

Can you please let me know, if your 89 760T or similar has these lights? Are they actually functional? What does 20, 21 & 22 represent?

I'm planning to pull the indicator panel and check/replace bulbs; however, would like to know if these are indeed supposed to be working lights?

Thanks!!

    Indicator Lights - Update 700 1989

Thanks for all of the input. Also, went through the wiring diagram for 89 760 and made the following determination:

#3 - Check Engine does not apply to 89 760T

#20 - Glow Plugs (applys to Diesels)

#21 - Boost Pressure, Turbocharger -- appears that this applys to Turbo Diesels

#22 - Temperature Warning, thermo-element catalytic converter (Japan Models)

#15 - Wiring diagram shows as blank, owners manual shows as not in use, yet there is symbol in the dash position. Perhaps Low Coolant Sensor? The symbol looks different than the one in the 700 FAQ -- it's a triangle with an inner symbol which I'm not able to distinguish. It is in the same dash position as in the FAQ (just under the "0" of the Tach).

Looks like I don't need to pull the instrument panel after all. All the bulbs that should be working are working!

#22 is indeed "exhaust overheat". It is viable in Japan only.

OK to recap following identification of 2 of the indicators:

#3 = Check Engine indicator. There is no active "check engine" as this car has no OBD. So, then my "check engine" light is not burned out after all as I suspected. And the owners manual is correct.

#15 - Is this the coolant indicator for those cars which have the coolant reservour sensor?

    # 20 = Glow Plugs for Diesels. Owners manual correct.

    # 21 - Should this light "turbo" work?

    # 22 - What is # 22 and should it work?

    Thanks!

I thought the "Turbo" light is supposed to only be lit during an overboost condition. In other words, you never want to see that light lit up.

Thanks. Does the "Turbo" indicator light when you turn the ignition on to position II?

It's not surprising that your car has no check engine light; the first year for OBD in turbos was '90.

Thanks. I was thinking it should have a check engine; however, it does not have On Board Diagnostics (OBD) -- so no check engine.
