Hi all-Can anyone recommend a shop manual for my '90 740? Would you recommend the generic Chiltons or are there better alternatives out there? And are there any online diagrams of the engine bay? I'm new to tinkering with a Volvo so I'm unsure of where common things are (fuel filter, o2 sensors, etc)

I have both Chilton and Haynes. I like the Haynes better (better pictures and diagrams), but sometimes the Chilton answers a question that the Haynes doesn't.

As far as books: you can try Haynes 740 & 760 (locally available) covers 82 thru 88 -- yet a lot should apply to the 90. Also, Haynes 740 & 760 '82 to 91 - UK version book available from IPD. Both have black/white pictures and wiring diagrams, etc. The print quality of the UK is a little better than the U.S. version. I have Chilton also, but find that I mostly refer to the Haynes.
