sleeved 230FT update... 700

...Hello, thanks for the advice regarding my wierdly rebuilt 230ft.

Put it all together Friday night, fired it up and drove it away.

Put 350 kms. on it yesterday, some city mostly highway...it's got some tapping I don't care for, but I'll check the valve clearance and see what happens.
Other than that, it runs great! I caught the head leak before too much coolant passed through the system, I think the O2 sensor is still ok, gas mileage wasn't bad.

Thanks again for the help, and if it blows in the next 2 weeks, I'll be expecting my brickboard warranty to come through.

:>

Cheers, Josh

I had been reading your posts and replys on a sleeved B230FT and may have missed something but I wanted to let you know I had mine sleeved back to standard roughly 260,000 miles ago. Apparently the PO allowed the intake hose to rot away and drove it in a "dust storm"!? It would have taken .080"+ to clean it up and of course no pistons available that size.

My old '79 B21 was carefully maintained and at 280,000 still had the crosshatchs so I know what people are talking about.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, Rolyak. It has been running great up until 20 mins. ago, when i put $20.00 worth of ethanol blend 92 octane into the tank. Sounds like it's on 3 cylinders right now?!?!?!? I did wash it, so I'll give it a half hour to dry out and go for a spin.

If it still runs like s**t, I'm putting 20 worth of low grade in it and see if that helps.

Cheers! Thanks again, Josh
