Help! Thermostat T40 Torx screw stripped

I just stripped the thermostat T40 screw. Please help and let me know what my next
option is. The mechanic will charge $100 to get it changed. Thanks.

Help! Thermostat T40 Torx screw stripped

Would be a good idea to get a can of Aero Kroil and soak that sucker down for a day or to as well before doing the hacksaw bit for easier removal. Large screwdriver with fitting for a wrench on it can come in handy here ( impact driver even handier if you can get in there with one )

If you can get in there with a hacksaw blade or a dremel tool do so and cut a slot in the face of it. It goes from torx 40 to slot head screw pretty fast. I have had call to do this to a few of them over the years, it's really not that bad.
