Dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!

I watched the guy at the shop next door to me spin his wheels for 1/2 a day on Friday over a clutch. He could not get the pressure plate to screw down flat against the flywheel. Long, bitter, ugly story short, he grabbed up the 6 screws that went in the shifter cover (Toy truck)and tried to use them in the cover plate. Damn screws were identical except for being about a 1/4" longer which caused them to bottom out in the holes before they pulled the cover plate down tight. Sometimes it is the really simple stuff that jumps up and bites you in the butt.

Believe it or not ... this was the SECOND time ... the last time was back in the very early 70's when I was swapping motors in my 65 CORVAIR ..went from original 2 carb, 95 hp to a 4 carb, 140 hp.. but I could drop the engine out of one of those , all by myself, in 75 minutes .... this was the first time I had ever taken a tranny out and not the motor ... but at least now the tranny lets us go both forwards as well as backwards ... and the new clutch and pressure plate engage without shuddering .... BONUS !!!

Now you guys sound like my old man. "The WHITE side is the money side bone-head". I grew up hanging sheetrock and every now and then you would cut a piece backwards. Oh, it would fit bitchen but it was gray side out and as the old man says, "the white side is the money side". Too funny.
